I have a very old chrome looking waffle iron from the 1950's that makes two (square) waffles at a time. I vaguely remember my mother using it when I was a kid. For some reason she kept it forever and I wound up with it. I don't feel like dragging it out of the pantry to check the brand or snap another pic of it. It's very retro. Cooking waffles are simply not that interesting to me.

I think that few people use waffle irons often enough to bother getting or keeping a waffle iron. My wife and I have one and use it quite often. While I am happy with pancakes my wife really likes waffles. Pancakes are a snap to make from scratch but waffles are considerably more work. The eggs have to be separated and the whites beaten then folding into the batter. It's not the end of the world but enough to make me opt for the easier pancakes. And then EdP went and told me about that good mix where you just add water. Pancakes it is.
Our waffle maker goes back to about 1966 when we got married. The griddle flips to flat so I use it for grilled cheese. Can't recall the last time we made waffles.
Blueberry pancakes this week. Made enough for four breakfasts so Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Monday.
Should you have a desire for a waffle, don't go to a restaurant named Waffle House. Let's say "did not meet expectations"
