That is an American thing, which is ironic considering the rhetoric about the US being the land of the free and all that crap. American cops are assholes. Sadly, I can't really lay all the blame on them because of the resistance they have to deal with.... and the violence they are subjected to. I dealt with a lot of Americans on the job and could not believe the number of American drivers who would want to shake my hand and thank me for treating them so well.
