yes, MREs... plus
if you don't want to cook it but are ok purchasing food
that is already prepped, then you could get into the various
kinds of chips that are already fried and bagged or dried
and bagged. nuts of any kind are usually good eating for me
and i do happen to also like banana chips. add to this any
kinds of dried meats you may enjoy to make sure you are getting
enough of certain vitamins and protein.
for this though i think it gets even more critical to have
a reliable and clean water supply (especially in an arid
climate) since much of what you are talking about involves
rehydrating.
