If those two were gentlemen, they would have conversed civilly if

There is no question in my mind that Trump and Vance set this up with
intent to embarrass Zelenskyy.

  It was blindingly obvious they (and Glenn)  were playing
to a script  focussed on repeating the terms 
"disrespect" and "lack of gratitude".

 

 
Trump?s motivation was more venal.  Zelenskyy has a higher approval rating
than Trump. Both in Ukraine and internationally. He has been lauded as
Churchillian, whereas Trump is rarely viewed favorably for his diplomatic
skills.

    During WW2,  Churchill famously adopted a outfit
intended to signal "practical wartime clothing in a
country under bombing attack". It was called a sirensuit
and he FAMOUSLY wore it when meeting US Presidents
Rooseveldt and  Eisenhower during WW2. Including, at the
White House as in  this pic.

   Trump and Vance are too dumb and uneducated to know
that history; but of course Zelensky and educated people
in Europe do. So the Americans (repeated) childish sneers
at Zelensky's clothes only served to underline American
deficits..in education, diplomacy and manners.

   It was an appalling own-goal by Trump's advisors,
shaming the USA in front of world media.
