Thomas Matthew Crooks attended Bethel Park High School.
He attempted to join the school's rifle club, participating
in "preseason", but was such a bad shooter, he was considered
"dangerous", being rejected from the team and asked not to come back.

 
I don't think it was staged. You're not going to shoot your guy in his
ear with a bullet or even with shrapnel. That's way too dangerous.

   If I was staging a fake assassination in public/ on TV, 
it would feature gun shot sound effects, a small
squashable fake capsule of red liquid taped behind an
ear/hidden in thick hair, a lot of blanks for the sound
effects and several professional actors (in the crowd and
