yes, as the Mexican or New Mexican version i consider
chili.
Tex-Mex or other variants are often with beans and
tomatoes, which are good to me too, perhaps the only
version i don't really enjoy as much is over rice (and
i can eat that too if i have to, but it is my least
favorite version of and of the chilis).
Mom used to make a version called diet chili that
was ok to me, instead of beans it had bean sprouts
and the meat was about half of what we'd normally do
and then she'd add mushrooms. i'd put that in the
middle of the various chilis as to what i thought of
it. it wasn't served over rice, just in a bowl like
a stew or a soup.
Mom won't touch chili at all these days.
