I got lucky

I went to a further away ALDI to look for marked down fish.  I saw a guy buying many packages of chicken.  I said, "Wow, that's a lot of chicken."  He explained to me that he's the owner of a local fried chicken restaurant, and that someone had ordered a huge number of thighs.  We got to talking, and he ended up telling me that he occasionally gets orders for wingettes, and ends up throwing away bunches of wing tips.  He's going to text me next time, and GIVE me them for free!
There was no marked down fish there, but I stopped at another ALDI and got a package of sockeye for 50% off, which meant $6.49 a pound.  It can really pay to be chatty. :-)
