The Canadian anthem was so poorly rendered that I
honestly could not tell if the 'singer' was

Then he butchered the American anthem even worse,
so that at least made me feel a bit better.

I believe "land of the free" is semantically equivalent to "land
of the oligarchs".  They certainly have plenty of freedom.
