 It's a touchy topic. As someone who never bought into the god stuff I always resented being expected to recite the Lords Prayer in school opening exercises, to have to say grace at public meals etc.  I was glad to see that indoctrination disappear from public events. On the flip side, there are a lot of "christians" who bitch and whine about the elimination of public prayer as a form of religious persecution.

I took Spanish in high school for two years as the foreign language requirement.  Prayer in schools had been eliminated well before.  The Spanish teacher (who was actually born in Spain) was Catholic; she started every class having her students recite the Lord's Prayer in Spanish.  I and several other students opted to sit that out in the hallway.  We didn't feel it was right for her to include prayer as part of the curriculum under the guise of teaching us to speak Spanish.
