This island ceased all volcanic activity a couple of million years ago.
So we don't get many earthquakes on a human notion of time. Of course,
we're on a giant conveyor belt so seismic activity is probably more
frequent, on a geologic time scale, for our state than others. The Big
Island of Hawaii is to our SE direction and has one of the most active
volcanoes on the planet. If you're looking for a rockin', hot, time, you
need to get over there pronto!

China fact of teh day:
https://x.com/deedydas/status/1921388478761521549"The most widespread global restaurant chain is no longer McDonald's,
Starbucks or Subway.
It's not even American.
It's a Chinese franchise called Mixue Ice Cream & Tea with 46,000+
outlets...
9 of the top 25 restos are Chinese..."

Slightly surprising that their 2nd biggest is about coffee. More
surprising that there are two burger chains up there...
And most surprising that an ice cream place is #1. For decades, article
after article claimed that 90% of Chinese are lactose intolerant and
that's why they don't/didn't each much dairy...
But when I visited Shanghai and saw that Pizza Hut was probably the 3rd
most popular US chain, after KFC and McDonald's, I asked some locals "I
thought Chinese people didn't like cheese?". They simply shrugged and
said we like cheese fine. And ice cream too evidently...
And the convenience stores in Shanghai, their equivalent of 7-11's, had
entire shelves of milk, usually in small cartons or small plastic
bottles to be taken and drunk right away. A much larger quantity of
shelf space, and a much larger variety of flavors, than we see in the
US...
So this lactose intolerance concept was way oversold..."
