Koa is, in my awesome opinion, right up there with Brazilian rosewood as
far as looks goes. Koa was the favorite of Hawaiian royalty and used in
high status/style building construction and furniture. My guitar teacher
started a business making guitars and lutes using Hawaiian woods - koa
and mango. The 70's was a heck of a time for guitars and music in
Hawaii.
