There service was at a nice lake side venue and spent the night before and the night of the wedding in one of the three adjoining units of a lodge. There was a gap between the service and the reception for photos. I guess she couldn't wait to fill her face and found a can of soda water. I don't remember her asking if she could help herself to a can of soda from our fridge but it turned out she had not taken it from our unit. She had gone into the bride's parents kitchen and helped herself. She then parked herself next to the table that had been used to sign the registry and when the kid who works for the club came to remove the chairs and the table she insisted he had to leave it there for her to put her drink down.
She had a great time at the reception. She installed herself by the top of the stairs so that every time a server came up with a new tray of hors d'oveuvres she would take several. At one point I was talking to a friend and out of the corner of my eye I see an arm reach across the table into someone's glass and she took the cherries that garnished his Manhattan. I don't remember if it was before or after dinner while we were seated she went over to the bar with a glass. There was a small bowl of olives and she dumped most of them into her empty glass. It was kind of funny because the bartender saw it and gave her a really dirty look and then went over and took the bowl away.
When I mentioned these things to my wife she said I should not spend all my time watching for here to mess up. I was not watching. These were all things that just sort of happened and I caught them by mistake. Who knows what else she pulled off.
I have to have a talk with our server(s) at this lunch. It is a buffet but past experience is that she will abuse them having them run back and forth to cater to her whims. It happened once at another lunch buffet at one of FiL's clubs. He had the poor guy running back in forth. He had brought coffee but she wanted tea. There was cream on the table but she wanted milk. He brought a picture of milk and then she wanted a glass of milk. He brought the milk and then she wanted a glass of juice. He came with the juice and then she wanted a glass of ginger ale. I never saw him again. He had the good sense to get away, but then we were stuck without a server.
Thanks. It is a multi day celebration for her. My brother's wife took her out for lunch yesterday and her walking group is taking her for lunch tomorrow. Then the family thing in Toronto on Saturday.
I will try not to babysit the niece but I am certain things will happen that I cannot miss.
Could be worth the drive to Canada just to watch her in action. Incredible.
