John Lennon admitted that his great song "Norwegian Wood" was about a real affair, and that he deliberately added ambiguities (my word, not his) to the lyrics to disguise the real events -- to add "gobbledygook." He eventually admitted that the woman was journalist Maureen Cleave, who undoubtedly spent time with Lennon. She wrote the piece "How A Beatle Lives" -- a depiction of a bored, lazy, lethargic man who admits the only physical activity he has any interest in is sex. Cleave denied that they had had an affair.
