I had ro wait in the queue at my library for an eternity on this damned thing. It was a good, albeit depressing (when it came to the post-Beatles stuff) read. I've read Mal Evans's obituaries before. One thing that surprised me, again disappointingly, is that Evans gave McCartney extensive help on some of the Sgt. Peppers songs. I've heard this before and wasn't sure whether to believe it. Womack's book is persuasive on this point. McCartney promised Evans co-writing credit and also "royalties and all that." He ended up providing Evans with none of the above. This was actually the most disappointing thing I ever learned about McCartney. So, everyone, join in! What disappointed you about the various Beatles?
