Re: Yeah i think im done with beethoven

Hmmm… I said many wrong and stupid things about Beethoven… he’s still my
second fav composer after all… but there are things in his music i
really dislike (but there are also things in the music of Brahms I
extremely dislike — especially talking about their greatest works here)…
say movement nr 4 of symphony 5, or first movement pc 5, and most or
many of his sonatas - especially the later ones… or say the god awful
scherzo of Brahms 4th symphony… or the alphorn part in his first
symphony - and I’m not a huge fan of the Beethoven 9 sounding part…
Yeah I was being stupid — mostly anyways
But I feel in general I prefer early/early-mid Beethoven except for some
output of his later work…
And okay… there are things that Mozart did that don’t feel right — say
the Jupiter symphony or quintet for glass harmonica (in the latter I
have problems with the instrument in use I think) but they are still fun
in some way and don’t turn me completely off as Beethoven 5 4th movement
does (it still has very sublime and beautiful moments, but most of it is
shyte) or Brahms 4 scherzo…
I mean the idea of connecting two movements as Beethoven did in 5 is
nice and all… but how god awful does the beginning of the 4th movement
sound?… like completely unreflected - in some ways maybe even cheap…
