In the March 2024 issue of BBC Magazine, on pages 50-54, there's yet another opera, this called Abomination, that's all politics, with apparently no music, as there's no reference to the actual music other than saying that "storytelling is the heart of Irish music"; so it *is* Irish music, in case you're wondering.
Since music is so immaterial to Opera, I wonder if there should be a specific music with Opera at all? The audience could wear earbuds playing their individualized favorite background music when listening to the recitations so all can be satisfied with going to the opera!
