the term. There is a slight phase shift for ambiance, it's barely
noticeable. I don't mind it at all, and one could argue it helps what
are very dry recordings.

Once again, you are greatly exaggerating.
Maybe you're one of those purist fundamentalists who insist on keeping
every click, every pop, every dropout, every flutter, every wow, and
every ounce of hiss from the original to be untouched in the name of
fidelity to the original source.
