de Silva (and Serkin etc.) in CPE is willing to
play sometimes very staccato, very "clipped",
moreso than most pianists in most repertoires
I've heard. And relatedly, in de Silva a lot of
the time what's delightful about a particular
passage is these little rhythmic nuances that
I don't hear or don't hear as often in other
CPE recordings. Both of these characteristics
point me to Monk. But it's interesting that
this doesn't seem to have anything to do with
what it was about what I wrote that prompted
YOU to bring up Monk in the first place.

"Clipped" and "staccato" are obscene aggressive
sounds that no one should be allowed to produce
on any instruments. Real music flows, it doesn't
puncture one's eardrums. Yours have obviosly been
severely affected.
