Italiano 1952; Weller 1966;
Alban Berg 1975. I know I know,
these are all XX century recs.
Looking forward to the Pavel
Haas or the Pacifica to tackle
the Prussian quartets.

Thanks for the prompt response.

I never liked the Italiano in
Meowszart, and I never liked
Alban Berg in any repertoire.

It's been a long time since I
heard the Weller and I do not
have a clear recollection. I
give it another listen.

What is your opinion about the
Fine Arts in this repertoire?

I prefer Amadeus to the Italiano
in most Meowszart. They sound
more playful and engaged to my
ears. What do you think?

I'm surprised you like them. In the
past, members here condemned Brainin's
wide vibrato.
So what? I like the overall interpretation.
And I'd rather hear vibrato than staccato
or no vibrato. The Amadeus isn't perfect,
but does a better job than Alban Berg.
Neither comes close to Flonzaley.
Cheers!
