Not going to reopen a long-winded diatribe on what is meant by "true coloratura" and whether MC makes the bar (and how many angels can dance on the head of a pin). Let me just refer to *the* (yes, *the*) expert on coloratura, the late Rodolfo Celletti: this is what he had to say about Maria, and you will have to make an effort to read it in Italian.
