If memory serves, I first heard about this a few years ago on either

As Bruce correctly said Jerry Lee's first private demo recording session
was in 1952 (in New Orleans) that produced "Don't Stay Away" and "Jerry
Lee's Boogie" (aka "New Orleans Boogie")
A second demo session in Shreveport in 1954 yielded Jerry's versions of
Hank Snow's "I Don't Hurt Anymore" and the Eddie Fisher hit (tho first
recorded by Joni James) "I Need You NOw" tho here titled  "If I Ever
Needed You"
His next recording date (now on an official basis for Sun records) was
on November 14 1956 that produced his "Crazy Arms"/"End Of The Road"
debut single
And the rest as they say is history........
