Was planning on going over the Rockies via I-70. Roads are
fine now, but supposed to get 7-8" snow in Vail on Tuesday.
That would give them 2 1/2 days to clear the roads before we
would go through there Friday. Crap.

Guess I'll plan the southern route using I-40, and take a
look at going through Salt Lake and I-80 in case it looks
unpassable. They actually had a 5 mile stretch they just
pulled the snow tire/chain restrictions for passenger
vehicles this morning.
Where are you now? Did you find a place to stay? Is it
snowing?
Just getting ready to leave this morning. Conditions have
improved dramatically and we're gonna try I-70.
Here's a good resource for Colorado winter driving conditions

This is probably too late by now, but just an FYI that when we
drove I-70 west to east through Colorado last March the surface
was just awful--in very bad repair.
