Perfect trip except last night. Got stuck in a bad storm
between Lincoln and Omaha in Nebraska and got hit with
2†hail.
Oof, so sorry to hear this. And since I'm from that area it's
bothersome you weren't treated better. :(
In honesty, it was entirely my fault that I ended up where I
did during the storm. But it's a story for another day. I
actually really like Nebraska and Iowa. I intended to get to,
and eventually did, make it to Council Bluffs, Iowa. We slept
in the Bass Pro lot right near the Mid America Center. The
view to the west of the city of Omaha is really quite beautiful
from there. Though, we also were right in the Eppley Airfield
runway pattern and got a bit of jet noise, but it quieted down
after 11 pm.
Nice! Lewis and Clark Monument, up top of the bluff looking over
the Missouri River is just a few miles north of there--and one of
my favorite spots. Lovely view.
The storm was big news on the AM radio the next day, so we had
lots of companions in our misfortune.
Misery loves company, or so they say. :)
...Once I get settled back in to the home routine, I'll
post about some of the interesting things we did and
learned on the trip.
We'll look forward to hearing about it. I'm especially glad
you didn't fall off the hogback. How sensible of you. (name
that movie)
12 in Utah is an amazing road. Well worth driving the whole
thing.
Would have liked to do it in something other than the RV
pulling the Bronco, but I still enjoyed it.
I can relate. I drove it with my Acadia... but towing a small
Lance trailer. Despite the fear, I think it was my favorite thing
of everything we saw that trip.
