...has become quite loose, it's barely attached to the frame
of the couch. So far I haven't been able to see how its
attachment could be repaired. I've looked under it with the
footrest up, but not seen anything helpful. I need to get
back out to the trailer and just try to wedge myself under
there, but in the meantime I wondered if anyone here might
have suggestions.
I'm guessing if the cushions don't come out to where you can
see the side of the frame, you're gonna have to figure out how
to unbolt the couch so you can get it pulled out, flipped over
and work on it from the bottom. Re-tightening and probably
installing more screws.
Yeah, I hadn't been able to see under any upholstery which also
seems to cover the inside of the arm (i.e., under the seat) and
was afraid of some kind of massive undertaking like you describe.
When I looked at it this morning, I realized the back end of it
(at the right in the picture) rests against the trim around the
slide out. That's the end that is completely loose (other end
still had some attachment to the couch), so I put a couple of wood
screws through the back side of that trim and into a frame piece
of the end/arm rest. I think the trim spots I screwed into are to
the inside of the slide out seal, and shouldn't interfere with its
operation (the couch moves with the slide out). In any case, I
sunk the heads very nearly flush with the surface of the wood.
It's reasonably secure now and I have my fingers crossed I've not
caused any problem with slide operation.
