I suspect that is a defence mechanism I've evolved to have - "that looks
difficult" - assume it is impossible and so avoid doing any work
associated with anything difficult.
The question was posed by University of Manchester mathematicians and
answered to their satisfaction a day after the problem was posed. So, I
should assume it is solvable. There was clearly a bit of to-ing and fro-
ing, but they settled on a solution, which suggests it is not trivial and
thereby all the more interesting.
