Radio Scouting Ireland (RSI) News

Over the weekend of February 22nd and 23rd, Radio Scouting Ireland
(RSI) brought exciting radio-related activities to scouts attending the
annual tree-planting event in Lough Dan Scout Centre, Co. Wicklow. A
high-frequency (HF) station was set up using an ICOM 775DSP and an
end-fed halfwave antenna, as well as a two-metre low power station to
allow scouts supervised radio operation under the EI0YOTA callsign.

In addition, scouts also took part in a range of fun and educational
games using PMR handsets. It was a fantastic event and a great
opportunity to introduce over 200 scouts to the world of amateur radio.
Facilitating the activity for the weekend were RSI members Ana
Caizares EI5IXB, John Mack EI6IZB, and Tom McCarthy EI5IEB.

On Wednesday the 3rd of March 2025, the club held its EGM. RSI is
delighted to announce the following members have been elected to the
committee: Dave McMullin EI6JLB as president and Noel Crowley EI2048 as
chairperson. They wish the new members to the committee the very best
in the year ahead. The club also wishes to thank the outgoing committee
members for all their great work and volunteerism.

Radio Scouting Ireland report that they have a busy year ahead with
some amazing opportunities to promote the hobby to young people. To
meet these requests, they depend very much on the donations of
equipment, the good will and assistance from the IRTS, radio clubs and
   operators throughout the country.

If you wish to follow what they are doing more closely, they have an
active Facebook page and website at www.radioscouting.ie If you like
what Radio Scouting Ireland is doing and wish to help, they have set up
an iDonate page at www.idonate.ie/radios coutingireland where you can
   make a donation.
