At its meeting on March 27, 2025, the Board of Directors of Radio Amat
eurs of Canada voted unanimously to cancel RAC’s plans to operate
a booth at Hamvention (Dayton) in Xenia, Ohio in May. This decision was
not taken lightly and was made with deep regret as our members and volunt
eers always look forward to attending this significant international event
.

Radio Amateurs du Canada a voté � l'unanimité l'annulation
du projet de RAC de tenir un kiosque � la “Hamvention�
� (Dayton) organisée en mai � Xenia, en Ohio. Cette déc
ision n'a pas été prise � la légère et a ét
é rendue avec un profond regret, car nos membres et bénév
oles ont toujours hâte d'assister � cet important évén
ement international.
The relationship between Canada and the United States has become increasin
gly strained due to recent trade disputes and tariffs imposed by the US go
vernment. Adding to these challenges, controversial remarks from US lead
ers, including suggestions of Canada becoming the 51st state, have hei
ghtened concerns about Canadian sovereignty.
Les relations entre le Canada et les États-Unis sont de plus en plus
tendues en raison des récents différends commerciaux et des tar
ifs douaniers imposés par le gouvernement américain. En plus de
ces défis, les remarques controversées faites par divers diri
geants américains, au nombre desquelles les suggestions selon lesqu
elles le Canada deviendrait le 51^e État, ont accru les inquié
tudes concernant la souveraineté canadienne.
For Canadians, these tensions have had tangible impacts and there has be
en a decline in cross-border travel and tourism.

It is a complex and evolving situation, but it is our hope that we will
be able to return to Hamvention in future years and we hope that Canadian
Amateurs who do attend the event will have a safe and enjoyable experienc
e.

On Friday, April 18, 2025, Radio Amateurs of Canada is once again or
ganizing a special on-air event to celebrate World Amateur Radio Day.
Every year on April 18, Radio Amateurs worldwide take to the airwaves in
celebration of Amateur Radio and to commemorate the formation of the Inte
rnational Amateur Radio Union (
https://www.iaru.org) (IARU) on April 18,
1925.
The IARU has announced that the theme for this year’s World Amateu
r Radio Day will be “Entering the Next Century of Amateur Radio Co
mmunications & Innovation”.
Radio Amateurs of Canada is once again holding a “Get on the Air o
n World Amateur Radio Day” special event in which we encourage as
many Amateurs as possible to get on the air and contact as many RAC stati
ons as possible.
* RAC official stations will operate across Canada from 0000Z to 2359Z on
April 18. The RAC official station call signs are VA2RAC, VA3RAC, VE1
RAC, VE3RHQ, VE4RAC, VE5RAC, VE6RAC, VE7RAC, VE8RAC, VE9RAC
, VO1RAC, VO2RAC, VY0RAC, VY1RAC and VY2RAC.
* Those contacting one or more of these stations will be eligible for a sp
ecial commemorative certificate noting their participation in RAC’
s Get on the Air on World Amateur Radio Day Event.
* Participants simply need to complete one or more contacts, on any band
and mode, with RAC official stations to earn their certificates.
* No logs need to be submitted; simply check back on the RAC website when
instructed and enter your call sign to download your certificate.

Le vendredi 18 avril 2025, Radio Amateurs du Canada organise une manifes
tation spéciale sur les ondes pour célébrer la Journée
mondiale de la radio amateur.
Chaque année, le 18 avril, les radio amateurs du monde entier se
font entendre sur les ondes pour célébrer cette activité q
ui leur tient tant � cœur et commémorer la création de
l'Union internationale des radio-amateurs (

, le 18 avril 1925.
L’Union internationale de la radio amateur a annoncé que le t
hème de la Journée mondiale de la radio amateur sera « Entr
er dans le prochain siècle des communications et de l'innovation des
radioamateurs ».
Radio Amateurs du Canada organise une fois de plus un événement
spécial intitulé « Prenez l’air lors de la Journ
ée mondiale de la radio amateur », au cours de laquelle nous e
ncourageons le plus grand nombre possible d’amateurs � se met
tre en ondes pour entrer en contact avec un maximum de stations affili�
�es � RAC.
* Les stations officielles RAC fonctionneront � l’échell
