Greetings from a warm and windy Lincoln. Its taken a long time for
the ARRL to recover from the cyberattack of last year. My ability to
directly email Division members has just been restored.
Lelia Lee, WAUIG, has been the Iowa Section Manager since 2019.
Ive appreciated her enthusiasm and dedication. She has been a strong
advocate for improving the ARRL Field Organization as well as the ARRL
itself. Never one to shy away from making suggestions or pushing back
on ideas she felt were not appropriate, I found Lee to be a valuable
member of the Midwest Division Cabinet. Lee, like our other three
Section Managers, has provided good counsel, ideas and support to me.
Barry Buelow, WIY, was elected the new Iowa Section Manager on
February 21. First licensed in 1966, Barry is a very active ham. He
has been a member of many clubs including the Cedar Valley Amateur
Radio
Club. Barry was an engineer and manager with Collins Radio. He also
designs and markets radio-related electronic equipment. Welcome to the
Midwest Division Cabinet.
Lee, N7LP, wrote me last month to ask that I let you know that the
Ozark
Amateur Radio Society will be hosting the Mt. Vernon, MO, Hamfest on
March 22. For more information, please visit
https://www.w0oar.club/oars-hamfest Unfortunately, the club applied too late for the hamfest to be listed
in
QST but it is a sanctioned event and listed on the ARRL website.
It is beyond time for a new Division newsletter. Ive got a bunch of
stuff youve already sent to start with, but Id like to focus this
issue on club activities or individual activities designed to attract
and keep new people to our hobby. Please send articles, with pictures
(and captions) if possible, directly to me at
k0aiz@arrl.org. We will also be scheduling another Midwest Division Zoom Town Hall
meeting in the not-too-dist ant future.
Thanks to all of you for your patience as HQ worked to recover from the
cyberattack. This is also a great time to renew your membership and/or
set up automatic renewal. Those actions will give you entries in the
ARRL Dream Station Sweepstakes. Visit
https://www.arrl.org for more
information.
Please contact me if I can be of any assistance to you in issues with
ARRL subscriptions, etc.
73, Art KAIZ
