Had a neighbor many years ago who hated to make corn-on-the-cob for her family. She said it made the whole house steamy, and nobody ever ate it anyway. Turns out she thought you had to boil it until the *cob* was tender! My mom gave her obvious pointers, and the neighbors began enjoying corn-on-the-cob.
