Zerohedge exists to post fatuous right-wing political propaganda, to
which Cursitor Doom is addicted - it does have to be truly fatuous to
whet his appetite.

NPR reports basically the same story. The roughly 20K Haitian
immigrants are real.

Basically the mayor of Springfield said that these costs could cause
the city of Springfield to fail and go bankrupt, which certainly makes
sense: A city of ~60,000 people is suddenly saddled with 20,000
indigent charity cases. And Springfield was poor to begin with -
classic rust belt story.

Immigration should be controlled. Immigrants should be individually
sponsored and helped and dispersed.
Sloman doesn't have to read or think. If it's a link from Zero Hedge
or Brietbart or WattsUp, he knows it's false. That saves his valuable
time.
Zero Hedge didn't spell out why 20,000 Haitian immigrants should suddenly show up in Springfield, Mass.
The likeliest explanation is that the republican governor of some Southern state put them on busses to ship them up there to get them out of his hair.
It's not per se a problem with the national immigration policy, but rather a problem with looking after illegal immigrants who had been imported as seasonal labour and weren't shipped home at the end of the harvesting season by the people who imported them.
The US has always relied on illegal immigrants for cheap labour - Donald Trump relied on them to clean his hotels - but they become a "dangerous burden on society" when some right wing politician wants to play the "racial purity" card. John Larkin is a gullible idiot so he reliably falls for that kind of propaganda.
