 Hurricanes in the USA are neither more frequent nor more deadly than
in the past, even with a thousand times more instrumentation.

Climate change doesn't seem to make hurricanes more frequent. Large area of warm sea surface - hotter than 26.5C - make those that do show up more powerful.

The deadliest hurricane in US history was the great Galveston storm of
September 1900. Deaths are estimated around 10,000.

Nobody warned anybody that they should get to higher ground. Modern meteorology make hurricanes less deadly, because people mostly get told to get out in time to save their lives

They should be grateful for the Chinese who have switched

Modern, roughly 40% efficient coal plants, replacing old 8% efficient coal plants. It actually reduces CO2 emissions, and the plants take a lot longer than  week to build - the planning behind that program goes back a long way.They are also producing about 90% of the world's solar cells, and putting in solar farms all over the place.

to do from switching to EV's.

 People in the US and Europe are losing interest in ev's.

Not so that you'd notice. They are cheaper to run than internal combustion cars, and while they don't have the "latest thing" cachet any more, they are lot cheaper than they used to be.
