A lot of the American right-wing media darlings in the modern era are just simple grifters who failed at everything else in life.
Candace Owens used to be a Democrat and she tried grifting poor blacks in that persona, it didn't work. Reinvented herself as a conservative overnight and lives in a mansion now.
