Humans cannot really understand the designs, but they improve performance and efficiency

Princeton University, Engineering School
Summary:
Researchers have harnessed artificial intelligence to take a key step toward slashing the time
and cost of designing new wireless chips and discovering new functionalities to meet expanding
demands for better wireless speed and performance.
Jan has missed the point that these are combination of semiconductors, antennas and electromagnetic components that interact in rather complicated ways.
This may be chip design, but they aren't the sort of chips that we are used to.
And once the tools get into the real world and people get familiar with them, the interactions are going to look a lot less complicated.
And it's not just the Engineering School of Princeton University but also the Indian Institute of Technology.
It's clearly interesting work, but it is being hyped in one more academic puff piece.
