Not a widely shared opinion.

A super-low distortion oscillator would be interesting, but a few
fundamental issues would need to be addressed first.
Jim Williams published one years ago - it's covered in one of his Linear Technology application notes.

I'd expect that a 1 PPM THD, variable fequency sine generator
shouldn't be too difficult, but how would you measure it?
It isn't. One art per million puts the harmonic content about 120dB below the fundamental, and a few people claim to have done better.
Spectrum analysers and Fourier transform analysis can pull out that level of  harmonic content - as you really ought to know.
