Now there's a name that was once familiar.
Born Surrey, 1890. Served in WWI.
First novel, _The Secret Battle_ (1919)
Trained as lawyer, though never practised.
Independent Member of Parliament 1935-1950.
Wrote a great deal, many things for _Punch_.
