According to Sanford and Son it was carbonated.
I read elsewhere that it was wine at 11% alcohol.
So it wasn't fortified. I presume you could
duplicate Ripple by taking some wine, adding sugar
and carbonation.
Another Fred drink is Shang re la, it is ordered
from a negro at a restaurant and comes in a
pitcher with garbage on the bottom.
