Many important people are POC.
Not a game but a TV series had one of the more jarring examples:

You might have some preconceptions about what a guy named Romanowski looks
like. The character is present in most of C.J. Box's Joe Picket novels.

pickett-novels/
"Unlike just about every other character in the series, Nate Romanowski is
based on a friend of mine although I’ve exaggerated (Thank God) his
personality. The buddy I grew up with was a big blonde middle linebacker
who later went on to join the military and special forces.  He took me
falconry hunting and through him I was introduced to the very strange and
fascinating world of falconers and the mindset that goes with it. "
The novels describe him as big and blonde. Box must have been told that
the series was sort of like a cop buddy show and one of the cops has to be
black. There is also another black character who portrays and ex Wyoming
game warden who is the unofficial mayor of a small town. Wyoming? Yeah,
okay.
I gave up on 'Vikings: Valhalla' after the second episode. The female,
black jarl of 'Kattegat' was the last straw. Okay, the Kattegat is the sea
between Denmark and Sweden, not a historical town, and Lagertha may have
been a creation of Saxo, but I'll go with this version:

The History Channel has a passing relationship with actual history but
Netflix goes completely off the rails.
My favorite is when Samuel L Jackson's movie characters have PhDs.  He was a PhD mathematician in Sphere, and some kind of PhD in Deep Blue Sea.
In real life, I'd be surprised if he could spell his own name.
He's been in a lot of good movies, but he's only believable as a criminal or a crackhead.
