3 more dairy herds confirmed positive since Aug 5th, 100 more detections in wild birds, and 27 more detections in mammals mostly in the Colorado dairy positive areas.
There is a link to the "wild birds" that makes a distinction between the Eurasian (EA) H5N1 (with the 50% mortality rate among human infections) and the American (AM) H5N1 that is the dairy recombinant with a North American wild avian influenza strain.
They have not done a phylogenetic analysis on the wild bird samples, and they likely should.  It looks like a lot of the AM samples collected in 2024 could be dairy related.
