https://evolutionnews.org/2024/10/progress-since-the-sternberg-smithsonian-saga-20-years-ago/Zero progress seems to have been made. They claim that some UK IDiot has praise for Meyer's claptrap, and that is it for progress. Signature in a Cell bombed, Meyer's God Hypothesis wasn't about any coherent god hypothesis, just a compilation of the Top Six god-of-the-gaps creationist stupidity that has been put up in defense of Biblical creationism for decades before the ID scam existed. Meyer never tried to develop a coherent god hypothesis in that book and only used the god-of-the-gaps stupidity as independent bits of denial so that some god might fill the gaps, but each gap denial was treated as independent and was never meant to develop some type of useful god hypothesis out of all the denial. It was all just denial for denial purposes, so that some god hypothesis might be viable if one was ever put forward.
Sternberg is a pretty tragic figure in the history of the ID scam. He manipulated the system to get Meyer's ID scam paper published, and the paper wasn't even anything worth publishing (Meyer's Cambrian explosion denial was one of the Top Six best evidences that was removed from the Top Six by Sewell, and is not anything that any YEC would want to support their religious beliefs because YEC do not want to believe in the designer responsible for diddle farting around with sea creatures within a 25 million year period over half a billion years ago). Sternberg gave up his science career (he was never fired nor turned out). Instead he became one of the ID perps running the ID bait and switch scam on hapless creationist rubes. The ID creationist scam had already been exposed and had failed in federal court by the time that the Discovery Institute hired Sternberg to conduct ID science at the Biologic Institute in 2007. The Biologic Institute eventually died (The web site hasn't been updated since 2018) but Sternberg was kept on the payroll, and is still supposedly doing ID science, but has never published this science in any reputable science journal that I know of. The only ID scam junk that I recall coming out of Sternberg for over a decade and a half of "research" is his whale fossil gap denial stupidity. Sternberg could not use his previous scientific research on invertebrates to support the ID scam, so he took up Gish's old whale fossil gap evolution denial.
It should be noted that after Sternberg put out a Discovery Institute video on his whale evolution denial Behe put out his claims that whale evolution from a terrestrial mammal was the type of evolution expected to occur by Darwinian mechanisms. Behe claimed that natural mechanisms could account for the molecular evolution responsible for whale evolution. In fact, Behe claimed that natural selection would be expected to take advantage of gene knockout mutations if they resulted in better adaption to an aquatic environment. Behe's denial angle was that even though Darwinian mechanisms could explain whale evolution that it was a bad type of evolution that Behe denigrated by calling it "devolution". As crazy as it may seem Behe's argument was that whale evolution was not the type of nifty evolution that his designer would have been responsible for in Behe's IC type systems. Behe shot Sternberg in the head by claiming that whale evolution was the type of evolution that likely occurred when the designer wasn't looking. Behe's designer would have done a better job because the designer had done a better job hundreds of millions of years before whales evolved.
That is the progress that the ID scam has made in the last 20 years. Around 17 years of Sternberg's "scientific career" with the ID perps destroyed by Behe's stupidity.
