NPR article:
https://www.npr.org/2024/11/13/nx-s1-5189279/small-fossil-big-implications-bird-brain-evolutionA bird brain scan from a 80 million year old fossil indicates that this ancient bird had a cerebellum that was not as developed as modern birds, but inner ear features were expanded and the cerebrum was almost as large as it is in modern birds. They think it was pretty clever, and that arial balance was a different from what birds eventually adopted.
