Paranormal. Whatever. Call it what you will but we need
to study it.
Why?
Good question. And here's the good answer:
Arthur C. Clarke famously said:
"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."
BUT DON'T STOP THERE!
It doesn't have to be tech. It could be a natural phenomenon that
we have yet to encounter, or a natural phenomenon that exposes a
mistake in our "Understanding" of nature, of "Science" and physics.
Look. We've got a lot wrong. We make a lot of assumptions that are
just plain wrong. There are things we believe we've figured out,
their secrets unlocked, when we haven't. And what is going to expose
our mistakes, reveal our gaps in knowledge is anything that does not
fit into our idea of how "Nature" works.
And, of course, any true skeptic would love, Love, LOVE to have
"Magic" or "Unicorns" or "Leprechauns" or ESP to turn out to be
real. But they don't have to be the case. It's still worth it.
Take "Oumuamua" for example. It never mattered WHAT is was, UFO
or newly discovered natural phenomenon, only that it wasn't working
the way our science, our understanding of the universe said it
should work.
It is a mystery.
And solving that mystery teaches us new things. It widens our
horizon.
The same is true for anything "Paranormal" aka supernatural.
