https://evolutionnews.org/2025/05/the-immaterial-genome-richard-sternbergs-labor-of-love/In 2014 Behe destroyed around 7 years of Sternberg's "scientific" work on gaps in the whale fossil record that he started when he joined the ID scam back in 2007. Behe pointed out that whale evolution at the molecular level was the type of evolution expected to happen due to Darwinian mechanisms because a lot of genes had to be broken in order for whales to revert to an aquatic lifestyle after their ancestors had spent several hundred million years adapting to a terrestrial lifestyle. If breaking these genes had some selective advantage, when they broke the broken genes would have been expected to be selected for. The broken genes still existed in the whale genome just where they were once functional in the ancestors of cetaceans, but Behe claimed that it was a bad type of evolution (devolution) in order to try to fool the rubes and get them to continue the creationist evolution denial. Behe was really claiming that his designer would have done it some other way. Whales must have evolved when the designer wasn't looking. This destroyed Sternberg's whale fossil gap denial that he had been working on for over half a decade.
Apparently Sternberg started working on something else to scam the creationist rubes with and came up with the Immaterial genome that he has supposedly been working on since 2013 (there have been several articles about the topic on the creationist news site). On his web site Sternberg had claimed that he joined the ID scam unit in 2007, but Gauger claims that he was attending lab meetings in 2006 (she used to work at the ID scam's research institute). Sternberg was hired by the ID perp's Biologic Institute to work up more intelligent design scam bait to attract the rubes. It should be noted that Sternberg joined up for the bait and switch scam after the creationist loss in Dover.
Apparently, Sternberg rediscovered the well documented fact that life comes from life. You need a living cell to make another living cell. If a cell has been "dead" for too long and it's internal systems have been disrupted it can be difficult or impossible to restart the cell and get it to live again. Embryo development requires starting with a fully functional cell. Lifeforms do not just inherit DNA from their ancestors. They inherit a functioning cell. The inheritance of these cellular functions and structures are just as important as the inheritance of the genetic material. No mystery, and something that has been well understood, before the genetic material was identified.
This seems to be the next frontier of ID scam bait denial. Gaps in the whale fossil record are no longer mentioned.
