 Kennedy is pulling funding for Gavi (world vaccination program) that has vaccinated more than a billion children and likely saved over 14 million lives.  This isn't stupid military aid this is peaceful good the US was contributing to around the world.

 latest study on efficacy of covid vaccination in 2023.  Unvaccinated still have around twice the likelihood of critical illness, and nearly all of the unvaccinated have likely been infected at least once by now. When vaccination started the unvaccinated were dying at 10 times the rate as the vaccinated that got infected.  You could still get covid after  vaccination, but you were a lot less likely to die if you were infected.

Moderna is announcing superior results for their mRNA flu vaccine against H1N1 and H3N2 (the current virus for this flu season).  This is the program that RFK cut funding for.  The study involved 11 countries. The current flu vaccine is having issues with the current seasonal strains because even though the vaccines contain H1N1 and H3N2 vaccine strains they are not a good match for the virus currently infecting people.  Moderna can make their mRNA antigen sequence exactly to what is infecting the public.  These antigen designations are decades old (from the 1970's and 80's) and you might have the H1 sequence lineage, but the antigen has changed a lot since being named, and the vaccine makers have to guess at what variant is going to be infecting people the next flu season.
Modern mRNA vaccines can make their mRNA to any sequence they need it to be to match what is infecting people.  This is what would have made it a useful tool against any pandemic that might arise out of the current avian influenza virus that are infecting people around the world.  The current H5N1 vaccine strains are not effective against the current sequences of the B3.13 and D1.1 H5N1 genotypes currently infecting cattle, poultry and people in the US.  They stockpiled H5N1 vaccine, but it isn't expected to do any good.  They didn't even try it against the D1.1 genotype, and they already had to make a synthetic H5 antigen to test the Missouri patient infected with the dairy virus.
