In short, the planet had a carbon-rich mantle early
on. The heat and pressure exerted afterwards would
likely lead to the formation of diamonds, maybe even
big sheets of diamond.
So ... private biz ... how much diamond would you have
to scoop up to recover the cost of sending an excavator
probe ???
Musk might go for it ...
Extraterrestrial diamonds would have a bonus value too,
just because.
