https://scitechdaily.com/ultra-thin-lenses-set-to-revolutionize-technology/Researchers have developed a groundbreaking method to produce
Fresnel zone plates — paper-thin optical lenses — using
standard semiconductor manufacturing techniques.
These lenses, though less efficient at present, hold the
promise of revolutionizing industries from astronomy to
consumer electronics with their potential for mass
production and application-specific design.
. . .
Small/cheap can sometimes beat 'efficient'.
What we NEED are 'lenses' for kinda hard X-rays.
Haven't seen much there yet. Zone plates MIGHT
offer a little there, albeit at rather low
contrast. IMHO some kind of meta-material will
be needed for better.
