I haven't watched many Eurovision Song Contests live in recent
years, but we did always find the scoring the most entertaining
part when we did... so for "The Interstellar Song Contest" to
miss out that part of the merriment was unforgivable! However,
we did get OTT, fun, weird, camp, as well as a twist at the end,
to make this a decent parody of the real thing. In fact it was a
lot shorter and a probably a lot more entertaining than the real
thing too.
Although I know of Eurovision...and know that Austria won it this year, I've never seen one, and I don't know enough about it to compare Interstellar to it.  So there were probably many subtle references that I missed; I'm sure Graham Norton was one of them.

Graham Norton has been the UK's Eurovision commentator ever since Terry Wogan quit after the farcical result of 2008 where he stated that Kalomira should have won it for Greece with Secret Combination which came 3rd instead of the rubbish that did actually win it due to political voting.
Instead of representing Eurovision in that manner, showing the lifeforms voting for their friends and neighbours instead of the actual songs, and one planet recruiting singers from a different planet to sing their song in order to get more votes (Kalomira is Georgian) the imbecilic and illiterate DEI hire they recruited to write the episode decided to make it into a story justifying terrorism to children by basing it on Hamas attacking innocent civilians attending an Israeli pop-concert, and attempting to justify that by saying Israel deserved it because of its destruction of Palestine. Fucking moron!

As a story "The Interstellar Song Contest" was actually quite
good and very enjoyable, but of course the episode got kind of
de-railed half way through when we got the Susan cameo... not
Susan Twist, but Susan Campbell (née Foreman). Heavily rumoured
in the usual online fan forums of course, but now fully
confirmed on screen. Wow! Carole Ann Forde is back, at 84 years
of age. Having her character call Ncuti's Doctor "Grandfather"
was a bit weird though. At least William Hartnell looked the
part!

I thought it was OK, if I was able to pick up on more of the Eurovision stuff I might have a better opinion (or not).

There was very little Eurovision stuff in it at all. It was an attempt by a woke pervert to justify the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel and the Manchester Arena bombing. What do you think all of the spectators being sucked out of the arena was all about?
What they should have done was to represent the aliens all wearing costumes similar to the national costumes of the European country that take part in the Eurovision, but there was nothing European in character about it at all. There should have been performers wearing lederhosen to represent Austria and Germany, performers wearing horned Viking helmets to represent the Scandinavian and Nordic block who all cross vote for each other, performers in sombreros and dancing Flamenco to represent Spain, performers in fustanellas to represent Greece, and singers eating Spaghetti to represent Italy which is exactly what happened in this year's competition where two of the songs parodied Italian culture to the disdain of the Italians themselves. Instead the woke moron decided to turn it into a gay fest.
There was no need to have any terrorists in it at all. Instead if the degenerate, perverted, mentally ill woke writer had any clue about the history of Eurovision which they obviously didn't they could have paralleled the using of the start of the performance of the Portuguese Eurovision entry as a signal to start the Carnation Revolution in Portugal in 1974. They could have also merged it with Spanish dictator General Franco rigging the result of the contest by bribing officials. That would have made for a much better story that was actually connected to the Eurovision Song Contest and it would have encouraged viewers to learn the real history it was based on rather than encouraging children to engage in homosexual acts.

I'm not sure about the two Rani's thing, or Mrs Flood now
becoming an underling either. I was also hoping that
bi-generation was just a once-off in the show too... but RTD
likes to hammer down on his ideas so we've now seen
bi-generation twice in a few years, after never hearing of it
for sixty years! No doubt it will rear its head(s) once again in
the future now that it has become a 'thing'. For me it was silly
fun once, but a stupid gimmick twice.

Same here.  The first time it was used, I thought that the writers (read RTD) got "stuck", and used it as a cheap way to get un-stuck.  This time....nope....this is just lazy writing rearing its ugly head again.

There's only two episodes left of the season now, so now that
the unsurprising surprises have been revealed, what is RTD going
to throw at us in those two episodes? It's going to have to be
something BIG for a season finale... but will RTD get the
landing right or will it be a damp squib?
If RTD stays true to form, it will be like last season's finale: part 1 is pretty good...but part 2 shits the bed.

Doctor Whoke has been shitting the bed for the past 8 years.
