Back in January, the Big-8 Management Board have initiated [1]
a discussion on the removal of moderated newsgroups that
currently have no moderator, and are hence unusable. One of
such groups is rec.photo.moderated . In March, I've volunteered
(see References:) to take over its moderation.

Like I've mentioned, I've never had much interest in moderated
newsgroups before, much less been a moderator of one, so I can't
promise smooth operation, especially right from the start.

And regardless, I'd prefer not doing the thing entirely on my

My plan is to set up message submission email addresses aliased
to my own mailbox, and approve (or not approve) them from there.
Should there ever be any co-moderators, I'd move submissions to
a password-protected portion of an https: website and provide
an HTTP/1-based API (usable with curl(1) and compatible with
Lynx, naturally) to approve the messages there.

I don't find the 'real name' requirement /enforceable/ (we
don't have photo IDs on Usenet, after all.) In its stead,
I'm going to require a /consistent/ identity. In particular,
those who publish their photos under an alias are free to use
that same alias for their r.p.m postings.

Having a valid reply address (From: or Reply-To:) wouldn't
be a strict requirement, either, but without the means of
contacting the poster, I wouldn't be able to explain my
reasons for rejecting their article.

JFTR, I'm a lifelong personal computing amateur, but my
interest in photography is relatively recent. /Some/ of my
photographs (among other media) can be found at [3]. As can
be seen, my primary camera (body) is Pentax K-5.

Someone there may wish to help you.
I wonder how ACW would be different if it was moderated.
how about if we all lived on the same street
