 What if the woman is forced to regenerate while pregnant? The foetus would die. That's why Time Lords cannot change gender and that along with the Timeless Child monster is why Doctor Who ended in 2017.
 

It seems to me that our (male) Doctors have not all been the same size and shape.
What happens to that extra matter if The Doctor regenerates into a smaller body?? Or vice-versa??
If (whatever) can happen in a Male --> Male transition, why can't similar happen in a Male --> Female transition or in a Female -> Male transition??
