But according to Christian doctrine, Jesus was conceived by Mary
through divine intervention. Joseph was not a blood relative.
Therefore, without a documented line of descent from King David to
Mary (NOT Joseph), no matter how apocryphal or inaccurate, there is
no evidence that Jesus was a descendant of King David.
That said, almost all Jews probably were. There's nothing special
about being descended from a ruler of the same people a thousand
years earlier.
--(There's a famous piece of genealogical research that claims that
it's almost impossible for any Briton with 4 British or Irish
grandparents to NOT be a descendant of Edward III ...)
