Did you search wikipedia? In their entry of MM episodes, this was the
22nd and last episode of the season.

 Alas, it doesn't have any info about renewal or cancellation.

You'd have to keep checking the CBC website for news of that.

 I have to say this past season was generally low budget
with many of the characters just phoning it in...

It did give them a chance to showcase Effie's and Miss Cherry's lives a little more, along with the characters of the Starlight Club.
